Hate Mail, Good News, and My Prayer for You
This is the 100th blog I've posted on this new site. Granted, most of the 100 are old blogs transferred from MySpace. And what are round numbers, anyway, but artificial milemarkers in the comings and goings of existence? Still, I wanted to do something special on this occasion, but I never quite decided what I wanted to do. So instead I offer you "Hate Mail, Good News, and My Prayer for You":
1) "Hate" mail?... Okay, there may not be hate involved. "Weird" might be a better word. Still, it always amazes me when people I never knew existed spend goodness knows how much time sitting around and reading my blogs. It makes me feel more important than I probably am - and to some degree it's flattering - even when what they have to say about my blogs isn't altogether flattering. Case in point: here's a rather amusing e-mail I received this morning from a complete stranger named Luke.

Subject: Tree Hugger
I was just looking through blogs and you are one of the weirdest i have ever seen. Well have a great day hugging your tree while the Iraqis blow them up.

Hugging my tree while the Iraqis blow?... Thanks for making me laugh, Mr. Skywalker!
2) Two tidbits of good news: The first comes out of Jackson, Mississippi:
"Arthur Johnson may be returning home in a matter of days, 16 years after his arrest for a rape he did not commit. On Friday, Jan. 4, the Mississippi Supreme Court ordered Sunflower County to review Johnson’s case based on post-conviction DNA testing that conclusively eliminates him as the perpetrator...." For the rest of the story about Mr. Johnson, please read: DNA says not guilty of RAPE after 16 years!
The second comes out of Elyria, Ohio, and directly relates to my pending lawsuit:

[A video message from Jesus Crisis, featuring "Psalm 3" by Allen Ginsberg]
Good night, my dear friends. May your dreams be good to you - and may the best of them come true.

After 100 blogs I still have hope for you.
AWAI package came today. Perhaps this will give you more hope. Great video. Let's see more with music! Waiting to hear from you. Elena

Thanks... hopefully we can chat Tuesday... this weekend is going to be chock full of activity. Geri's off through Monday, we're going to have the four smallest grandchildren for several days - also going to be celebrating my other niece's birthday (both nieces have January birthdays) and visiting Geri's ailing mother in Columbus - not to mention the expected winter storms.... I'm trying to tie up loose ends online now, since I don't expect to have much time for the computer this weekend. (-; I'm definitely interested in the AWAI. I appreciate you thinking of me.

You wrote this comment over two months ago. I thought you were going to get the AWAI materials that are still waiting for perusal here. I guess there have been too many deaths, celebrations and politics since then. You probably won't read this any time soon but in case you do I am still waiting...spring has sprung but it is still snowing here.

1. "Hate" mail or any mail at all means you are having an impact - indifference would be far worse. I'm glad you continue to rattle their cages.
2. It appears there is hope for sanity. There are reasons for the separation for church and state and also for independence of the judiciary - your case and the thousands of others like it are testimony to that.
3. How wonderful it is to hear a person's voice! It adds so much to the experience. I loved the way you read the poem and hearing your love of Ginsberg in the reading. I haven't read any of his work and will do so after this.
Peace to you, JC.

Thank you, so much, Connie! I had been thinking about doing this for a while. Your bringing my attention to Anti-Mike's recent video blog helped make up my mind. So thanks to you and to Mike! (-;
Since I can't send out bulletins on this site like I can on MySpace, I'll say this here:
I just realized that apparently the videos I embed in these blogs don't show up in the e-mail version which automatically goes out to all subscribers. I'm not sure how to fix that yet... lol. So if anyone gets an e-mail blog with a big blank spot in it, there's probably a video you're not seeing. Follow the "Permalink" at the bottom of the e-mail to visit the actual site and see what you're missing.

you are "one of the weirdest," what with espousing peace, love, and understanding. that's why we keep coming back.
miss your myspace base, but this is a good place to continue your race.

Thank you so much, my friend! Strange, but I've always been a bit fond of the weird. (-;
I kinda miss my MySpace base, too. But I'm getting more comfortable with (and fond of) this new space as we become better acquainted.

re:weird...
i am just now working on getting 2 of smith and lady's poems and fotos onto the gallery, and forgot lady has this on her profile:
"Other poets and artists and degenerates and adventurous sorts... expats and weirdos..."
p.s. when in columbus, will you be going to see the giant python?

There's a giant PYTHON?!? Now I'm afraid to go.

Well this time the streaming video worked.
I have never read any of Ginsberg's stuff.... but he is a powerful writer and worth reading so I'll have to add him to my pile of "to be read" authors.
Thanks for sharing some of your favorite stuff on your blogs.
