Maiku and Cadillac Mountain

A mountainous sun
Bleeds through the clouds
Peaking on my face.

Thanks! It may be the most beautiful place I've seen. Filled me with love for the earth - made her seem like a Goddess.

you're an earth sign, fellow virgo.

As for "Maiku," would it be more like high-ku as the title implies mountain...??
In 2000, I was atop misty & beautiful Cadillac Mt on a September day. Standing amongst the rocky outcrops with the low hanging clouds flowing by me. I was wearing my green skirt & top ensemble, newly purchased while at LLBean. A lady walked up to me and said I looked like a garden goddess in my attire, LOL.. I guess I was in my element, LOL. Then you mentioned goddess and off I went on a tangent..LOL..Just had to share..LOL
Have a great weekend~

From a hole in the ground to the top of a mountain in one blog. I love Maine's rocky coast also and its beaches. I spent a summer in Ogunquit with the summer theater people there. Glad you got to the
top Cadillac even if it wasn't an auto.

Ogunquit is one of the places we didn't get to see, though I want to do so. We had been to Philadelphia and Atlantic City on that trip before heading north to Maine. There, we spent a day in Bangor and on the bay in Surry, a day in Acadia and Bar Harbor, a day going up the East coast from Surry to Lubec and across to Canada, and finally a day going through western Maine on the way to Vermont.
I'd love to live in Maine.

for some reason i;m wondering if you've you've ever done any tanka poetry, like the one you featured on your apollinaire

Thank you, Meribeth!
I recently some tanka (at least that's how I spelled it) in my old journals. It'll probably end up here eventually.

Short but sweet. Like it of course.
I'd love to visit Maine someday.
But Nova Scotia is first on the list... raw nature is always god inspiration. THanks...

Thanks, Chris!
Nova Scotia was ahead of Maine on our list, too. But then there were legal issues because Canada has retrictions on convictred felons entering the country. As it turned out, we were able to sneak into New Brunswick for an afternoon during our Maine trip. But we were afraid to plan Canada, get reservations, et cetera, only to be turned away at the border (and lose deposit money) if they ran my name through their computer. I need to file for some sort of "Forgiveness" from the Canadian government.

and now we all need a passport as well. that's sad. in high school we used to go to canada all the time, since it was just 18 miles away.

We've been Bushwacked... in the name of national security.
In the name of "protecting us," warrantless wiretaps, state-sanctioned torture, war under false pretenses, and giving tax breaks to the "cash-strapped" oil companies have thrived.
Rename Exxon-Mobil and Halliburton. Call them Roger Clemens and Terri Schaivo instead. Then maybe someone in Washington will give enough of a flying fuck to do something.

don't forget to take your flip flops off at the airport.

I love Cadillac Mountain and Maine..I was there in '85. It is so beautiful and so peaceful there.
When I lived in Ohio, we used to go to Canada all the time. Toronto is one of my favorite cities. It's so clean. Now, you have to have a passport. Yes, we've been Bush-whacked in about 20 different ways! Oops, now I will be put on the "bad Amerian list". EH.

LOL... thanks, Susan!
And welcome to the list!
I can't wait to return to Maine.
If not for family here, I would in a heartbeat.

Almost every year I go to the Stratford, Ontario Shakespeare Festival in Canada. We drive up through Detroit and come back through Niagara Falls. I agree about Toronto, it is one of my favorite cities also. Get a passport J. C. and we'll take you this year!!

I very much appreciate the offer, Elena!
Unfortunately, the Canadian government's "forgiveness" procedures generally take at least year (and I haven't yet started the ball rolling). One day, however, I hope to make it....

Talk about ESP! Maine is so beautiful isn't it? Just like Seattle's coast, rocky and craggy and all sea-farin' feelin'!
Hugs to you and Yours for a Great Memorial Day!
I do believe you HAVE sacrificed more than the average combat vet due to this country's circus of a legal system!
Celebrate Freedom!!
You've EARNED it my friend.

Thank you, Suzette!
Since I've never been a combat vet, it's hard for me to say how true that is; but I've definitely experienced post-traumatic stress disorder since my release. I've never had a hand grenade explode near me and seen a guy blown to bits, but I have seen guys raped in the shower, stabbed repeatedly, or beat down with an iron bed frame or for little more than calling someone a bitch, owing someone a pack of cigarettes or happening to be young and cute.
I've never been to Seattle, unfortunately (in fact, the farthest west I've ever traveled is Auburn, Indiana). One of these days....
Wishing you and yours all the best this holiday weekend as well!...
