Sarah Palin FaKKKts?

In my last blog, I posted a photo that seemed to portray Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin wearing an American flag bikini and holding a rifle.  I should have made sure it was actually her before I proclaimed it to be so.  Please accept my apologies....

Click here to read an Examiner article telling the true story of the image.

And finally, here's a "photo" I swiped from Photobucket.  I hear from a reliable source that the donkey portrayed in it is not an actual ass.  I suspect certain folks (including Sarah Palin) might disagree.

Meribeth, on that link is a quote from Judy Blume, who my mom actually encouraged me to read while banning anything from the horror genre. I thought it strange. And I couldn't stand Judy Blume.

i never really cared for judy blume either. my mom only tried to prevent me from reading books she deemed too adult for my child-like eyes.. i have been a voracious reader ever since i learned to read, and if i didn't have something of my own around, i hit up her bookcases. for some odd reason, she didn't think i was old enough to read philip roth when i was 11...

If wanting books banned is the most egregious charge against Sarah Palin please read the letter by Anne KilKenny of Wasilla, Alaska again. There is only one line in her letter that talks of her wanting to fire the town librarian but there is a lot more information about Sarah from someone who has known and worked in Wasilla for many years. I believe this letter is going to be used in quite a few damning blogs about McPain's choice for VP.

Perhaps the e-mail I forwarded to you yesterday hasn't been read yet but when you do it might be interesting to try to put Anne Kilkenny's letter on your website if you can post it. I found it most revealing of Palin's personality. The picture was faked but the letter isn't.

It might be a good "rule of thumb" to check out anything like that photo with snopes.com before passing it on. They are amazingly up-to-date.

Well, now I've learned that the list of books I referenced when I first posted this blog was also bogus.  So I've removed all mention of it.

The books on the list have been banned at various times by various libraries, but the list seems to have had nothing to do with Sarah Palin.  Once again we see that our best sources are still all-too-human.  You simply cannot believe everything you hear.  And maybe this is a sign from the universe that I should STFU regarding Sarah Palin.

I am reminded of these lines from my poem Identity Crisis:

"Maybe the whole shebang is a lie
      Mighty Maya,
      Caged birds, songs and all
Because how free can we really be
      Man
      Really

How free in the land of the penny pinch
      And the US Mince
      And poetry turned know-it tree
      Or no-it tree"

I'm also reminded of these words that have been attributed to the Buddha:

I have a slight problem with the Buddha quotation, however: our own "reason" and "common sense" aren't always reliable either.  It feels like tremendous hubris to critique the words of the Buddha.  But then again, this might be what he was aiming for when he said those words (if he said them).

i hope these 2 faux pas (i have no idea what the plural would be) won't keep you from blogging more about palin.

even though the list was bogus, it's started an interesting conversation on banned books, a cause i hold near and dear to my heart.

I'd like to know what the Vietnam vets think about Palin. If McCain loses because of her, and I'm pretty sure he will, it's gonna seem like all that shit in Vietnam was worth nothing...again. So sad. Sarah Palin is the Monica Lewinski of his campaign.

Yep - the list was a phoney and I got tricked. It was sent to me by a librarian so I thought it vetted. Obviously it was vetted no better than Palin herself.

I think that we all agree that banning books is atrocious. The Republicans are always talking about smaller government. I don't think it's small government to ban books. I will be the judge of what I read and what my child reads, thank you very much. As far as Palin, I don't like her. I don't mean that personally, I mean I don't like her for VP. I have many reasons. Alaska is a State unlike any other, and they are proud of it. Their issues are very, very different from ours, so I don't see how being gov. of Alaska would give a person a deep understanding of the rest of the Union. I also have a problem with her calling herself a feminist, but being against Roe v. Wade. We are about to lose some liberal judges on the Supreme Court and I don't want them replaced with more conservatives. I say that as a woman and a mother. The one thing that does not bother me about her is the fact that she has a career and five children. I agree that this would not be an issue if Obama had five kids. This is a very sexist double standard. I'm sure McCain chose her because she is a woman and that really makes me angry because rather than assuming that all women will vote for a woman, he should have correctly assumed that most women are going to vote for the candidate that addresses the issues important to them. Besides, if he had his heart set on a woman, there are more qualified candidates he could have chosen.

Boy .. you have to be so careful what you post now adays.. political stuff especially. No one runs a clean campaign now adays.. no one. So lots of spurious stuff out there .. even if looks like fun.

That said.. the alarm bells go off for me having another potential VP from an oil rich state... I'm sure she has big oil in her pocket just like Cheney and Haliburton.... and that worries me.

Sarah is a lovely mother, and she is going to help McCain. The whole world is waiting to rescind Roe vs Wade so that if your wife is raped she can't have an abortion. And if you divorce her you will have to pay child support anyway..
The human egg is so sacrosanct that if it is impregnated it is a human being like an acorn is really an oak tree.

Women are like the Taliban believe they are..we are just chattel and if we have any rights it is to be impregnated and if raped we must die. Think about this before you decide on the election..What is choice anyway? We are just women and so what? We will die trying to keep going like before Roe vs Wade when many women died. I hate to think of what happened back then...So I won't tell...
    I hate cynicism.

Sarah Palin's interview with Charles Gibson reminded me of a job interview for a job you’re not really qualified for, but try to bluff your way through. Her belittling of the other candidates in the presidential race show a small minded person.
