Oh, lord Crisis, you are so funny! Just discovered photobucket, have we? Your Minister has been availing himself of their services for some time now! But I must say, I like the look... and I like the tag: "Tao, Ow, and Ka-pow", indeed! Haha

Thank you, Sir!  The altar of Photobucket is a fun place for worship and its alter-ego sin.

I can't help but recall these words by Bertolt Brecht (which I don't recall exactly, so I must paraphrase):

"He who speaks of enemies is himself the enemy."

I think our keyboards are conspiring against us.

I've felt much the same about Warhol as Smith expressed.  I grew to really appreciate what I think he was trying to do, and appreciate his significance, without ever really growing into a fan of his work, except for a couple of pieces like the Elvises (which I like in spite of their shallowness).

Though I've never really thought of his work that way before, I'm intrigued by your suggestion, Kevin, of the repetition being a sort of mantra or drone.  My mind is sinking its teeth into that tasty concept - and I thank you for giving me new eyes for Warhol.

It seems to me, my dear Elena, that you are totally missing the point. This is his blog, at his blogsite, so it must be important to him, lol. And I must say that I enjoy the blogs where he challenges us with images, videos, poetry, etc., as much as the ones where he expresses himself-- so eloquently-- with his words. I am drawn back to these blogs of his, finding new things each time I read through them. They most certainly are not "silly". And I didn't see your comment as a criticism at all, Tara.

Sorry, all. I'm sure that John's life is not dedicated to writing blogs. I'm sure he has more important things to do. I never meant to imply otherwise. I thought that he was trying to be clever with the whole "Any Warhol" thing. I really didn't take it too seriously and I didn't mean to be demanding. I meant it as a compliment, not a criticism.

I think of it as a balloon head divided into four rectangular component parts (representing the four directions, four elements, the many colors of my mind and being, and the totality of who I am).  The head is tethered to the ground by an unconventional necktie (what looks like a tie is actually a white portrait of John Lennon on the chest of my black t-shirt - and the shirt was a gift from my Aunt Marlene when I came home from prison - I call it my Love shirt because it has the lyrics to Lennon's "Love" on the back of it).  I used the picture editor at www.photobucket.com to create this Warholian image, starting with a self-portrait I took of myself on 15 September (the day of my Popped Cherry blog).  It only took a few moments to create, but it's full of possible meaning and allusion to me (I've only scratched the surface in this comment).  Japanese Buddhist sage Nichiren Daishonin is known for the concept of ichinen sanzen, which translates (roughly) to "a single moment possesses three thousand realms."  I think of this creation as my ichinen sanzen self portrait.

Silly? Mea culpa. I worship the very ground that my Jesus Crisis walks on. He is probably the most incredible writer on all of My Space. I think Tara and others love him as much as I do. I actually do worship him and he knows it. But I find challenges at times with some of the comments. Since I have him in my heart and mind there is no way I can appreciate all of the silliness that accompanies his blogs.

They told the emperor that they needed gold to create his clothes. They spent hours sewing on every fold of his new garments. When he went before the public arrogantly showing off his clothes it reminds me of the nakedness and fraudulence of a lot of our life in poetry, politics, and it takes a bit of silliness to expose the truth. That is all I can say tonight.

It seems to me that some of the recent comments on this blog question the validity of fellow reader's comments and even goes to the degree of questioning the intellect of the person participating in the discussion. Not everyone can claim to be a great literary student, poet, writer, theologian, activist, etc. But that does not mean that we should be made to feel that our comments are superficial and lack value. I hope that if anyone who feels slighted by this elitist attitude will continue to leave there comments here whatever they may be and not worry about being judged. Be assured there are those of us who see the value in your insights and while we may not all have the deep profound experience that some claim, the comments you put down on these pages are appreciated by many of your fellow readers. If I may be so forward, I would not think it to far reaching to presume that the author appreciates your support also.

I couldn't agree with you more. I have never had the opportunity to hear a poet speak so openly about his work, his life and his inspirations. I find that this is a very unique opportunity for someone like me, who might not otherwise encounter this level of exposure to the artistic process not only to admire the work, but actually participate and comment on it. I have found this a wonderful site that is informative, inspirational and challenging for the poet and the non-poet alike. I don't know if I can appreciate the work on the same level as a writer of poetry. The process is largely a mystery to me. But I greatly appreciate the results.

Tara says exactly how I feel about it. I am not a poet, but I love seeing the process and the result. It's interesting and it's wonderful to have someone like John who is willing to share his gifts with the masses who choose to come here and learn and we even get to comment! I certainly do not have the creative gifts that some of you have, and I do feel that my opinions are fairly simplistic, but I still have them and John has never made me feel that I am not wanted here. So, that's why I come here...to read and learn and to feel accepted.
