You know, probably more than you want to about how I feel about this election, via my bulletins. Thank you for posting this very important debate! I know you reach many people and hope that they heed your advice and get out to the polls on Nov4 and bring some change into the White House!

McCain's curmudgeon schtick got old fast.  So did his robotic recitation of a litany of lies.

After spending nearly two years trying to get Bush out of the White House I think the whole country is having a big YAAWN.
Let's get this damn election over with and hope we don't start another one in two more years. I think they should change the presidency to six years only with no re-election. Also get rid of the electoral college.

          Dear Charles,
Did you notice the ads after last night's presidential debate?
ABC had Chevron. CBS had Exxon. CNN had the coal lobby. But you know what happened last week? ABC refused to run our Repower America ad -- the ad that takes on this same oil and coal lobby.
I sent a letter asking ABC to reconsider their decision and put our ad on the air, but still we haven't heard back more than a week later. I think they need to hear from all of us. Can you help? Please send a message to ABC and tell them to air the Repower America ad this Friday on 20/20. Just click here:

We're working to get 100,000 public comments to ABC before 20/20's next airing. Our Repower America ad has a clear and simple message -- that massive spending by oil and coal companies on advertising is a key reason our nation hasn't switched to clean and renewable sources for our energy. Here's the script of the ad:The solution to our climate crisis seems simple.
Repower America with wind and solar.
End our dependence on foreign oil. A stronger economy.
So why are we still stuck with dirty and expensive energy?
Because big oil spends hundreds of millions of dollars to block clean energy.
          Lobbyists, ads, even scandals.
All to increase their profits, while America suffers.
Breaking big oil's lock on our government ...
          Now that's change.
We're the American people and we approve this message.
You can view the ad on the ABC petition page, here.

I thought that the last debate was a tie. This time, Obama was the clear winner. McCain beefed up his economy answers, but he totally contradicts himself. He's against government regulation and social welfare, but he's going to "buy up all the mortgages." One of the causes of this crisis is the lack of regulation over corporate speculation. Then when it comes to health care, he is again against regulation and social welfare. His plan is to give insurance companies $5,000 for each man, woman and child, toward their purchase of health insurance. Another bonus for corporate America. My family's health insurance costs $18,000. Then he wants to tax the value of your plan as income. As Obama said, "One hand giveth and one hand taketh away." I prefer Obama's tiered plan, giving the individual the option to either take their employer's plan or have the opportunity to have the same insurance as the congress has. There is a Federal program called Children's Health Insuarance Program (CHIP) which is similar to this. It is children's health insurance with premiums based on income. The program is funded by the government and guarantees that every child access to health insurance. This program is working and has been for ten years that I know of. John McCain voted against funding of this program. I cheered when Obama said words to the effect that in the richest nation in the world it should be the Right of every citizen to have affordable or free health care.

I gave birth to twin boys at 28 weeks gestation. I thank God they received excellent care the two months they spent in the hospital. The bill for their care came to $250,000. The health insurance that I had through work paid the bill. I would have had to declare bankruptcy if I had to pay it. I gave birth to a daughter three years ago and the birth alone cost $17,000. That's equal to our rent for a year. I'm fortunate to say that I have never been really sick, but I still have had astronomical medical bills.

A single illness can ruin a family financially if they do not have health insurance. My dad had a massive heart attack when I was eleven years old and spent three months in the hospital and a year going to physical therapy. He had to take a less stressful job and he would have lost his life savings if he did not have health insurance. It's not good for the country when a birth or an illness can financially devastate a family.

Finally, when people do not have health insurance they end up going to the emergency room for ailments that can and should be treated in a doctor's office. The hospital has a moral and legal obligation to examine and stabilize the patient and they also end up giving treatment. This is a huge drain on the hospital's resources, especially it's staff.

It bears repeating that this is the richest nation in the world and every citizen should have the Right to health care. It is the morally and fiscally responsible thing to do.

Here is a statistic. 2% of our citizens make 20% of the wealth in this country. We are the richest nation in the world but right now we are trillions of dollars in debt and jobs are disappearing. Today the stock market crashed again because everyone is afraid this is going to get worse. McCain isn't a maverick he is a confused and erratic person who says one thing one day and another thing the next. For God's sake lets elect Obama, a clear headed and intelligent person.
Everyone is going to be hurt if there is another Republican administration.
