it's hard to read out loud a poem that short, but you did a good job.

Thanks! This is the only time I've read "I Hear Change" live. I don't like reading short ones in public, because I agree they're hard to pull off (I was actually afraid I overdid the dramatics on this one - but I also wanted to make it memorable, since I was one of the first of 30 or so readers). If I'd known performance would be part of the judging criteria, I probably would not have submitted this piece. But the call for submissions said preference would be given to shorter works - and the editor did end up choosing this one, the shortest of the five I sent him, for inclusion in the anthology.
