Smith and Allen finally acquitted of child molestation charges
Nancy Smith and Joseph Allen were acquitted yesterday after having spent about a decade and a half in prison for crimes they did not commit. I've been convinced of their innocence for many years - and finally their case met a judge (James Burge) with the right combination of brains, balls and compassion. It's nice to see justice finally prevail in what a lot of folks thought a hopeless case. But it's too bad no one can give Smith and Allen their lives back.

I wish all of the wrongly convicted people would get the same justice.

And I wish the folks who do commit such crimes get the justice they deserve as well.

Does this have any bearing on your case? In the sense that maybe there is a chance for reversal as well.?? Just wondering??

No matter how innocent one is, no matter that there is no real evidence to convict, once the jury convicts it is totally impossible to get acquitted. The Innocence Project can only reverse the conviction with the evidence of DNA. No DNA nothing can be done. However, Judge Burge found errors in the trial and had enough sense
to see that both were wrongly convicted.

Truly good news.

I was stunned when I heard it. Even Smith and Allen's lawyers weren't expecting an acquittal. But thank goodness!
