Feed the Gays 2 on March 27th (and other upcoming Lix events)


Please note that our regular Lix and Kix Poetry Extravaganza now happens on the third Wednesday of each month at Bela Dubby in Lakewood.  The following list includes as well a few unique events on others days at other venues.

Saturday 27 March 2010 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. —  The 2nd annual Feed the Gays benefit for the Cleveland State University GLASA (Gay, Lesbian and Straight Alliance) scholarship fund will feature an art show and an eclectic array of poetic and musical performers including Dianne Borsenik and John "Jesus Crisis" Burroughs, accompanied by 10-string guitarist JJ Haaz, at the Bounce Night Club & Union Station Cafe, 2814 Detroit Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio.

Friday 2 April 2010 at 6:30 p.m.Dianne Borsenik and John Burroughs will be featured performers during the Ohio Poetry Association's poetry & music series at the New Beginnings Cafe, 141 East Center Street in Marion, Ohio.  An open mic will follow.

Thursday 15 April 2010 at 7 p.m. Lix and Kix present a National Poetry Day Q&A with featured performances by Geoffrey Landis, T.M. Göttl, Dianne Borsenik and John "Jesus Crisis" Burroughs at Barnes & Noble (198 Crocker Park Blvd.) in Westlake, Ohio.  Event includes an open mic, if time permits.

Wednesday 21 April 2010 at 7 p.m. Michael Salinger and Kate Westfall will be our featured artists during a special National Poetry Month edition of the Lix and Kix poetry extravaganza at Bela Dubby in Lakewood,Ohio.  An open mic will follow.

Wednesday 19 May 2010 at 7 p.m. Wendy Shaffer, Jean Brandt and Robert Miltner will be our featured poets/authors during the Lix and Kix poetry extravaganza at Bela Dubby in Lakewood, Ohio.  An open mic will follow.

Wednesday 16 June 2010 at 7 p.m. — Joshua Gage, Lara Konesky, and Dan Smith will be our featured poets during the Lix and Kix poetry extravaganza at Bela Dubby in Lakewood, Ohio.  Dan Smith will be accompanied by musicians Miles Budimir, Morgan Ellington and Jesus Crisis.  An open mic will follow.  See our Facebook event page.

Saturday 26 June 2010 at 7 p.m. —
Joey Pompignano and John Burroughs (a.k.a. Jesus Crisis), will be the featured poets during Write On! at the Phoenix Cafe, 2287 Lee Road in Cleveland Heights.  Open mic and likely jazz music included.

Saturday 17 July 2010 — Dianne Borsenik and John Burroughs, a.k.a. Lix and Kix, will be featured poets during the Ohio Poetry Association picnic in Marion, Ohio. Event begins at 1 p.m. and will include an open mic for OPA members.

Wednesday 21 July 2010 at 7 p.m. Our featured artists will include Alex Gildzen (originally of NE Ohio and currently of Santa Fe, NM - author of many books including Elyria by Crisis Chronicles Press) and Cleveland's own Alex Nielsen and Christine Howey during the Lix and Kix poetry extravaganza at Bela Dubby in Lakewood. An open mic will follow.

Wednesday 18 August 2010 at 7 p.m. —
Renée Alberts & Nikki Allen (bringing their cut and run poetry tour from Pittsburgh) and the one and only Steve Abbott (from Columbus) will be our featured poets during the Lix and Kix Poetry Extravaganza at Bela Dubby in Lakewood. An open mic will follow.

Wednesday 15 September 2010 at 7 p.m. —
Our featured artists will include Lou Suarez, author of Traveler [2010, Mid-List Press], Meredith Holmes and a to-be-announced musical guest during the Lix and Kix poetry extravaganza at Bela Dubby in Lakewood. An open mic will follow.

Later in 2010 we hope to host an attempt to bring the World Record for the longest live reading ever to the Cleveland area. Ten days and nights!

      It was packed last time!  And they'll have more bands, more artists and two stages (instead of one like last year).  And when Dianne, JJ and I finish around 6:45, people will still have time to make it to The Lit at 7 for another worthy cause and more poetry.
