New downtown Elyria eye-ku
[I'm composing a series of almost haiku inspired by downtown Elyria, Ohio, and hope to have it published sometime in 2011. Here's a sample written yesterday and slightly improved today (see comments below for details).]
East Avenue white.
I stutter-step over it
to avoid snow fall.
East Avenue white.
I stutter-step over it
to avoid snow fall.

I wrote "ice" in the first line yesterday - but now I think I'll change it to white. Makes the poem better, less factual, but nonetheless "true"

Thanks! I just got rid of the gerund too.
"East Avenue white.
I stutter-step over it
to avoid snow fall."
beats the earlier
"East Avenue ice.
I stutter-step over it,
avoiding snow fall."

good change... I like the double meaning you always manage to derive.
