The Porpoise of Head
I just saw Head, starring the Monkees, and think it is one of the greatest films I've ever watched. It's one of the rare movies that I want to watch again immediately (though I don't have time to do so). I highly recommend it — but should also warn you that Geri hated it, tuned out after the first 20 or 30 minutes and thought it dumb. I suspect you'll either love it or hate it, no middle ground. Here's a clip from the beginning of Head in which the Monkees perform a song written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King:

I saw this maybe 15 years ago and cannot remember much, except that the young pre-famous Jack Nicholson and Bob Rafelson were interesting.

I think it's totally brilliant - and I totally relate to it.

But I think your comment proved me wrong - there is middle ground.

I'm curious and would like to see it..... I absolutely adored them when I was young so it surprises me of all the things I never knew they did any movies. I'll have to ask Marc... he often owns such treasures. maybe I'll be lucky and he'll have it.

when i was around 14 or 15 i was the drummer in a band (when the real drummer didn't show up) & we played mostly monkees & paul revere & the raiders stuff 'cause it was pretty basic. also little black egg, muddy water, wild thing, etc. then when i turned 16 we got more adventurous & played sunshine of your love, foxy lady, etc. stephen stills tried out for the monkees. thankfully, the rest is history...
