Video: I read HermAphrodite and OT at Artomatic 419
Yesterday (4/16/2011), Dianne Borsenik and I drove about an hour and a half (some of that in a torrential rain) to share poetry with the kind folk at Adventures in Books, a relatively new bookstore owned by author Naomi Chapman in Fostoria, Ohio. The crowd was small but appreciative — and for some of the attendees/readers, it was their first ever poetry reading.
From there we drove about an hour north to Toledo for a second helping of the Artomatic 419 festival. (If you haven't seen my pics from our first visit there, on 4/2, click here.) We saw a lot of cool art, were happy to happen upon a reading by Rebeccas Wood and Golden, and then at 5:30 Dianne and I took the Old West End Records stage to share an hour of Lix and Kix poetry. I read "Identity Crisis," some new stuff and a few old poems I've rarely read publicly, like HermAphrodite and O T (clips of which, recorded by Dianne, appear below). After our hour, we skipped across the street to check out the groovy Bozarts gallery before heading to a fine supper and driving home.
What happened when I arrived back in Elyria is a long enough story for a future blog. Meanwhile, if so inclined, you can check out Dianne's photos from yesterday here (I've not had a chance to upload mine yet) — and watch these aforemention video clips:
