Tolerance Flood Cancels Reading

Yesterday I was gonna post a blog promoting my much anticipated Saturday 5/28 reading with Dianne Borsenik and Ray McNiece at the wonderfully unique Temple of Tolerance in Wapakoneta, Ohio.  When we learned that Ray had canceled at the last minute, I put off posting the blog until I knew who would replace him.  Then today we learned that last night's downpours have flooded the Temple and made its grounds impassable. So unfortunately we must cancel the reading. I'm grateful to Mark Jordan for inviting us and am hopeful we'll have an opportunity to do it again in the not-too-distant future.  I feel especially bad for Jim Bowsher, who meticulously created the Temple next to his home and has made the public most welcome there since 2000.  Peace and best wishes....

Wapakoneta's Temple of Tolerance is a really beautiful and interesting place. I would love to go there. I am sure sometime this summer you will be going. Too bad it is flooded today. The weather has been bad everywhere for a lot of rain. I had two flood in my back yard this year and still don't have the pond waterfall pump replaced and the pond cleaned out.

Right now I have my smashed in car at Abrahams Buick and Nationwide insurance is settling my claim. I was backing up from a parking space on Main Street and an older Mercedes slammed into my Buick and I also have front end damage because it pushed me into a tree on the tree lawn. Nobody was badly hurt but the really nice older black guy driving the Mercedes had his air bag go off and it hit his arm so he had to go to the emergency room. I saw him yesterday at the Enterprise car rental and he is also getting the claim settled by my insurance since his front end is totaled. I was cited for "care in backing" and will owe a fine of about $190.00. But now I have a rental car and am looking to get a new car and may lease one rather than buy one. I have another cataract surgery on Tuesday at the Cleveland Clinic so I won't be driving anyway and I am so grateful to have Marc here as my chauffeur on the 31st. Life goes on and I hope you have more fun this summer John with all the readings. I may get to one or two. Who knows??

I'm very sorry to hear about your flooding and car - but am happy you are able to remain optimistic and find silver linings.  Mom's basement flooded this past week, but not quite as bad as yours.  I've been carless, thanks to an oil gusher, for about a month, but am optimistic I'll be able to get it fixed next weekend.  Best wishes to you, my friend....

Sorry to hear about the flooding at your Mom's John... But i recall it flooded at least once before... and with all the rain that we've had I suppose there was no way to avoid it this year.. bummer.

Lots of places here have been flooded all week... because we got pounded with rain. We've always been lucky in our neighborhood always dry cause where we live is very sandy... ancient beach front.

But many in Detroit were not so lucky. Hope you haven't had to spend your whole holiday weekend drying out her basement.. hope you've had a little pleasure.

The only thing that I'm happy about is that the event might get rescheduled to a time I can go now... I really love that place for a reading... and would love to go back... just spectacular vibe there.
