Slipping Backwards into Blue Eden
One of my newest poems, "Slipping Backwards into Blue Eden," appears publicly for the first time in The Nexxuss, vol. 14, the latest edition of the all-free Take It to the Street Poetry project spearheaded by Lynne Hayes.
Read volume 14 here: takeitothestreetpoetry.files.wordpress.com/2011/11/the-nexxuss-vol-142.pdf
And then, in keeping with the spirit and mission of Take It to the Street Poetry, I hope you'll feel inspired to print out a copy or several and drop them where the words might be gotten by people who generally don't get words — or wherever you feel they should go.
Many thanks to Lynne for her great and tireless efforts, and to my fellow contributors.

The link wasn't working right, but I've fixed it now.
I wrote this poem in about 15 minutes while listening to the Neil Young & Crazy Horse song "Blue Eden" (from the 1994 album Sleeps with Angels) over and over. I had (and first heard) the cassette in prison, but don't remember how I got it.
A couple of additional notes: Under the Table and Dreaming was a 1994 album by the Dave Matthews Band, and the first I ever heard by them (a friend had the cassette in prison around the same time). The album's title comes from its song "Ants Marching": "He remembers being small / playing under the table and dreaming." Crash was the next Dave Matthews Band album (1996), which I also heard first in prison after my then girlfriend Lisa sent me the cassette. It features a song called "Crash into Me."
